Jason Thompson B.M.R. P.T.
Jason is a licensed physiotherapist at Selkirk Physiotherapy Centre. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy from the University of Manitoba in 2008. He has been serving the Selkirk community since 2009 and is looking forward to the opening of his new clinic. Jason obtained his license to practice acupuncture in 2009 after completing training with the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute. He has also taken a variety of other post-graduate courses.
In his spare time, Jason lives an active lifestyle, playing hockey and endurance running, and enjoys living the lake life with his wife and two kiddos in Gimli.
Kevin Mathu B. Sc., B.M.R. P.T.
Kevin graduated from the Physiotherapy program at the University of Manitoba in 2008. He has worked in a private practice setting since then. He has completed several post-graduate courses in acupuncture and myofascial release. Kevin has also passed level 3 of the Canadian Association of Manipulative Physiotherapy fellowship program. Kevin is dedicated to tailoring a treatment program for each individual client based on their injuries and needs. He enjoys helping people return to their functional lifestyle.
In his spare time Kevin enjoys producing music and working out.
Sophie Inkster - Massage therapist
Sophie Inkster graduated as a remedial massage therapist with honors in 2002. Her background in nursing kept her busy over the years with clients wanting to get to the root cause of their symptoms. She has grown immensely with knowledge and experience by seeking out further training in myofascial release, systemic deep tissue therapy, kinesiotaping and anatomy trains.
Residing recently in both England and Switzerland has furthered her personal growth by broadening her understanding of health and wellness. Sophie really enjoys teaching and is a trained body rolling practitioner and has also began her APPI Pilates training. Her passion for the human body and living optimally transcends through every session.
Mercedes Smorang - Massage Therapist
Mercedes was born and raised in the town of Beausejour, just east of Selkirk, but is currently living on the outskirts of Winnipeg. She loves to spend her free time outdoors exploring new hiking trails and traveling to popular tourist attractions.
She recently graduated from Robertson college as a Remedial Massage Therapist and is looking forward to starting her new career at Selkirk Physiotherapy Centre. Mercedes hopes to pursue further education in Myofascial Release as well as Cupping Therapy in the future.
Mercedes is passionate about helping clients discover, treat, and manage the root of their pain. She is looking forward to utilizing her newly developed skills to provide the best quality treatment possible to her clientele. Mercedes is eagerly anticipating joining the team at Selkirk Physiotherapy and building her clientele.
Logan - Physio assistant
Logan was born and raised in St. Andrews, MB. She is currently attending the University of Manitoba, working towards a degree in Kinesiology.
Logan has been passionate about sports all her life. She was a member of multiple volleyball, hockey and soccer teams growing up. Although she has now retired from volleyball, she has begun coaching, which gives her the same satisfaction as playing did.
Outside of work and school, Logan lives an active lifestyle and enjoys spending time outdoors with friends and family.
Kassidy - Physio assistant
Kassidy was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB. For the past three years she has resided in Petersfield, MB.
Throughout high school Kassidy enjoyed playing both volleyball and basketball.
Last year Kassidy lived in P.E.I. where she discovered an interest in spending time outdoors.
When she is not at work she enjoys hiking, swimming and going to the cabin with her dog Calvin.
Jasmine - Physio assistant
Jasmine was born and raised in Portage la Prairie, MB and is currently residing in the municipality of Rockwood.
Growing up Jasmine was active in playing sports such as ringette, hockey, soccer, and occasionally rode horses in her spare time.
When she is not busy with life on the farm or raising her 3 Labradors, Jasmine enjoys spending time outdoors.
